Everest Summiteer Iman Gurung Memorial Trust (ESIMT) was officially regsitered under Gorkha Chief District Office in 2006 AD (2063 B.S.) by multidisciplinary teams from Laprak in the memory of Late Iman Gurung. Late Iman was demised with 7 French nationalities along with 10 other Nepaleses at Mt. Kang Guru Himal of Nar Phu Valley on 21st October 2005 who were buried by an avalanche while doing the Kang Guru Expedition 2005. He was not only the first Lapraki to become involved in trekking tourism, but also the first person from the western region of Nepal to summit Mount Everest on 16th September 1991 with First Nepal Woman Expedition as well as from Gurung Community, as a part of the Nepali women's Everest expedition Team. He was the Chief Instructor from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He was the founder of Nepal Mountaineering Instructor Association (NMIA) and Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA). He was the first man who involved in tourism employment from Laprak village. In the beginning, he started to work as a Porter. Later on, he started to work as Guide in the different parts of Nepal, Tibet, India and Bhutan. With his inspiration, many youth from the Laprak village were employed in trekking field since then. He was also the active social worker. With his sudden ultimate death in 2005, we are deeply affected and then we decided to create an organization to honor his memory forever. We had officially registered Everest Summiteer Iman Gurung Memorial Trust (ESIMT) under Chief District Office Gorkha in 2006. In short, we named it as ESIMT. ESIMT is non-profit and social welfare oriented approach organization. The main objective of ESIMT is to provide the education, self-independent by providing skillful training to the deserved families’ children and women.
ESIMT is registered Non-Government Organization (NGO) and non-political organization under Gorkha District Office, Social Welfare council, Kathmandu and others Government bodies. The head office of ESIMT is at Prithivi Narayan Municipality 2 Gorkha. ESIMT is non-profit profit and social welfare organization. It conducts different conferences and seminars related to Tourism, climate changes in the Himalayas and other different events. ESIMT also provide scholarship to the children of climbers and trekkers who lost their parents while doing the trekking and climbing in the different parts of Nepal. It also provides the skillful and income generating training to the families who lost their husband and son in the trekking and climbing.
